Is the Trek 4500 Worth Its Salt?
Well, that depends entirely on the type of riding you intend to perform on this bike. Basic xc riding in blue and green would be ideal. Slickrock, major xc, and tricky downhill would be difficult.
It’s a fantastic first bike, in my opinion. Looking at the parts on the 2012 4500 trek, the majority of them are entry-level, but they’ve always been solid components on other cycles.
It’s critical to have good disc brakes. You will be considerably pleased with a modern 4500 with disc brakes than with earlier models without. Hydraulic and mechanical disc brakes are vastly superior to the nearly obsolete v-brakes.
In terms of tire size, the 4500 is a 26 inch size. This is currently on the smaller end of the mountain bike range, but it’s still a wonderful place to start. Check out the 27.5 and 29-inch wheels because they ride considerably differently.

Trek 4500 Bike Maintenance Tips
1. Clean your bike after every ride – It’s a good idea to clean your bike after every ride. Take off any loose dirt and mud from the frame, fork, wheels etc. with a brush or cloth. Use water if needed but be careful not to get muddy water on other parts of the frame where it might start causing rust spots.
2. Keep the chain lubed with a high-quality lubricant to prevent the bike from rusting and to enhance bike performance. If you have a wet lube, apply it once the bike has been cleaned.
